2011-2012 Annual Campaign

The existing Campion College building was constructed in 1966 to accommodate a student population of 600. Building standard and code related changes, along with increased demands on our building—a direct result of a growing campus and the expansion of our academic and program offerings—have made it necessary for the College to undergo significant renovations in the last ten years. These renovations include the addition of classrooms and research laboratories; the expansion of the main floor common area and third floor student center; and the refurbishment of both our chapel and library, the latter of which incorporated the installation of automatic entry and exit doors.

Safety, security and access are primary concerns for the College. Wherever possible we have made the necessary upgrades to ensure an environment that meets current standards for occupational health and safety. However, the limited availability of funds for capital expenditures has made it impossible for the College to address all deferred building maintenance requirements.

The 2011-2012 Annual Campaign seeks to address a critical area of need—accessibility. Today’s standards for barrier-free and accessible buildings differ greatly from the requirements that were in place when the College was built over forty years ago. Therefore, students and visitors with special needs may still experience challenges when navigating through some areas of our building, making it difficult to provide the same level of service to all who access our facility and programs. Funds raised through the 2011-2012 Annual Campaign will go toward a $300,000 renovation project to create a barrier-free environment on the main floor and improve accessibility to other areas of the building.

Your donations to the 2011-2012 Annual Campaign will help ensure that all students can freely access the valuable programs and services offered by the College. Our goal is to provide a safe, welcoming and comfortable environment for all who access our facility.
