Learning Communities

What is a Learning Community?

Students who are enrolled in the learning community take two to three classes together during the first semester.

These classes satisfy the general requirements of any degree program within the faculties of Arts, Science, and Fine Arts. These courses may also be transferred to programs in many other faculties.

For the Fall 2010 semester, the learning community courses are:

30474  English 100 - C07   Critical Reading and Writing I     R. Frank Obrigewitsch, SJ
33443 History 104 - C07    American Life                            Dawn Flood

What are the advantages?

By registering as a group, students enjoy the benefits of having a small community within the designated classes. This provides an opportunity to build relationships and establish friendships as students support each other academically.

Additional Benefits

Students in the learning community can also take advantage of the following:

  • “Welcome Day” breakfast to meet other students, and professors of the three classes
  • Mid-term seminar integrating ideas from the three classes.

  • Self-organized social events funded by Campion.
