Campion College at the University of Regina will mark Saskatchewan’s centennial year with a homecoming event this weekend (September 16-18). Alumni, from both the high school and the university college, will join current and  former faculty and staff for a weekend of activities.

The homecoming celebrations begin on Friday evening with a reception to launch the newly established Father Peter Nash Chair in Religion. The Chair, named in honour of the college’s first president, will be held for a six to twelve month term by a visiting scholar who is tied academically to the Jesuit tradition. Drawn from a range of fields, such as theology, philosophy, literary studies, film studies, the fine arts and history, the scholar will teach courses at both the undergraduate and senior levels, as well as provide consultation for students and special seminars to enhance the learning experience. For the 2005/2006 academic year, the Father Peter Nash Chair in Religion will be held by Dr. Peter Larisey, SJ, a scholar of art and art history.

On Saturday, participants will take in the University of Regina Rams football game followed by an alumni barbecue. Alumni will also have the opportunity to tour the newly expanded University of Regina campus.  The weekend will conclude on Sunday with the Opening Mass and Awards ceremony, where fifty-six students will be presented a total of $42,000 in scholarships and bursaries, many of which have been made possible by the generosity of Campion alumni and friends.
