Brick Books literary tour Coast to Coast to Coast: On the Road with Two Poets Laureate will make its Saskatchewan debut at Campion College, University of Regina, on Wednesday, March 5 at 4:00 p.m.

The cross-Canada tour, which began in January, showcases our country's top poetry talents and is rejuvenating this literary art form. The March 5 reading will feature Poets Laureate Agnes Walsh (St. John's, Newfoundland), Lorri Neilsen Glenn (Halifax), and Saskatchewan's own Robert Currie as well as past Poets Laureate Glen Sorestand and Louise Halfe.

"Campion has in the past, and continues to be, very interested in promoting writing and in organizing university-community literary events. Hosting the Brick Books tour is an excellent way to draw attention to and celebrate Saskatchewan writers alongside those of other provinces," says Campion College English Professor Christian Riegel, PhD, who is helping to organize the Regina reading.

Actor, playwright, storyteller and poet, Walsh was named the inaugural St. John's poet laureate in 2006. Walsh was born and raised in Placentia, Newfoundland and now divides her time between St. John's and Patrick's Cove. She is the author of two books of poetry, In the Old Country of My Heart and Going Around with Bachelors. Her poems have won Newfoundland and Labrador Arts and Letters awards, and been translated into French and Portuguese.

Born and raised in Western Canada, Neilsen Glenn has made Nova Scotia her home since 1983. Neilsen Glenn is an ethnographer and essayist, and the author and editor of six academic books on research and literacy. She published her first book of poetry, all the Perfect Disguises, in 2003. Her latest book of poetry entitled Combustion was published by Brick Books in 2007.

The event will take place in the Students Commons located on the main floor of Campion College. There is no admission charge and all are welcome to attend.
